Waking up in the middle of nowhere, Sydney manages to hitch a ride to a quaint New England town. It is here that she encounters Joyce, a warm-hearted waitress at a local bowling alley. Initially hesitant, Sydney slowly opens up and forms an unexpected bond with Joyce, who introduces her to the simple pleasures of small-town life.
During her time in the town, Sydney crosses paths with Ben, the owner of a steel mill. Intrigued by his down-to-earth nature, she develops a connection with him. Fate brings them together again when Sydney decides to seek employment in the town, and she reunites with Ben. With her newfound determination to embrace a different lifestyle, Sydney secures a position as a nurse at the mill, much to the admiration of the male workers.
